I have Lucky Star and The Cranes are Flying?

Do I take a break from Borzage for my List of Shame?

Take a break. That'll make you appreciate Lucky Star more.

The Cranes Are Flying is amazing, and if you give it another one of your lukewarm reviews I will smack you silly.

Enjoy!

I didn't care for The 400 Blows, not one bit. What are some of the others well known Truffaut's? I don't wanna see more of that kid life, so those are out.

Thirded!

My other favorites:
Jules et Jim (despite the disturbing amount of hate going around on here for it)
The Bride Wore Black
The Soft Skin

And the other Doinel movies, which aren't much like 400 Blows, but maybe better you should avoid them for now.

Avoid Jules and Jim, as much as I love Truffaut, it's an awful movie. Shoot the Piano Player is your best bet, at least from the other Truffaut I've seen.

You know, I try not to get involved in "opinion vs. fact" debates.  I don't think people necessarily need to couple their views with a humble "I think" or "IMO" all the time.  But when a film is #45 on the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? 1000 Greatest Films list (compiled by aggregating hundreds of other "top ###" lists), I think that terms like "avoid" and "awful movie" could be tempered a bit.
