I haven't watched it. But yeah, you might be right. Perhaps I shouldn't rule out Fassbinder because of one bad movie.

Fear Eats the Soul is fantastic.  Probably better if you've seen All That Heaven Allows, but not a necessity.

M and Symphony of a Great City are both excellent too.  I'm lukewarm on Blue Angel and Maria Braun.

M is a really good letter; definitely worth your while.  Especially if you can catch the capitalized version.  I have a friend who was in Europe and saw it in the original italics.  He said it was awesome.

There are just too many movies coming up right now in theatres in my city, all which probably won't be shown for a long time, since they're so small. And my time is limited the upcoming week. So what would you make of this collection?

- Play (Ruben Östlund), has gotten excellent reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1376717/
- Oslo 31 august (Joachim Trier), has also gotten excellent reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1736633/
- The doublelife of Veronique (only shown once, Saturday night, but probably available at my library for free)
- At night I fly (documentary), has gotten excellent reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2093951/
- This is not a film (by that imprisoned Iranian filmer) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1667905/

Never pay to see at a theatre what you can get to watch at home.

I say see Play and Oslo 31. You are our insider source on Scandinavian film.

(PLAY sounds like it might be good, too.)

Go see The Double Life of Veronique on a big screen.

This is one of those films that benefits from being seen on the big screen.  Beautiful, deep, both emotionally and intellectually satisfying.  You won't regret it.   (I'm not biased, its only in my top 5)
