I left it off the list because I'd seen it before (agree, good love story... don't like the other stuff though). :)

Mate you should watch ROTPOTA. Until it gets the seal of approval from the old man of the sea, I'm not buying the praise. (We have to find a new film to watch Christmas Day (Xmas tradition) and ROTPOTA is looking the best choice currently).

btw Stand and Deliver is on iTunes (which I assume is fairly universal). Maybe that would be a good choice for them.

I used to encourage everyone I knew to make art; I don't do that so much anymore. - Banksy

I haven't seen Apes yet but even so, there ain't much I have seen this year worth recommending. If I get to it before the xmas I'll let you know. :)

I forgot to mention how wonderfully festive Long Kiss Goodnight was. It'd probably make my top 10 christmas movies

Trying to prioritize. I have...

A Separation
Vera Drake
Kanal

Vera Drake is a rewatch, but it's for the Mike Leigh Marathon which I've been away from for almost a month now.
Andrzej Wajda's Kanal doesn't jump out as an obvious pick, but it's one of the last 5 films in my 7 month Director's of Shame Marathon

Separation is part of the Fever, right? It's the time of the year to prioritize the Filmspots.

A Separation is only opening in NY and LA on Dec. 31st, so unless the rules change it will be Filmspot eligible next year too.

Or unless it gets a nomination. Ballots aren't due until the end of January, and it seems to me like a decent amount of people have already seen it.

If you haven't seen either, you should watch Days Of Heaven first.
