Melancholia on the big screen, but in German

or

Melancholia
on the small screen, but in English?

Tough decision!

I saw Melancholia on the small screen (I believe Adam did, too) and was able to watch it twice that way.  I wish I would have seen it on the big screen since the visuals are gorgeous and the sound is fantastic (Rian Johnson strongly advocated big screen viewing, if I'm remembering right) - but I'm not sure how to judge the effect of German voiceovers(?).

No way you could just see it both ways? :)  (I'm so helpful, aren't I?  :-\ )

I think the visuals in Melancholia are way more impactful (ha) than the words.

You know, I probably could, that hadn't even occurred to me. I could go to the matinee tomorrow, and then order the DVD from the UK anyway and see it again immediately instead of waiting until it's released here - especially if I like the film.

The German voiceovers are usually not too badly done, but I feel that they can lessen the impact of a film for me, mostly because I am constantly aware of them. I have been avoiding them on the big screen for years now, so I am actually not sure anymore how much they would actually bother me at this point, but I suspect even more than they used to. (Saw No Strings Attached in German last month because it was available for instant viewing, and I doubt the original English dialogue would have improved my opinion of the film in any way ;))

Thanks tiny, I'll go for the big screen experience tomorrow, then.

Now I still need to catch up with it, but let us not underestimate the vocal talents of the Kutch.

Is the Deepa Mehta trilogy Fire, Earth, Water meant to be watched in order?  Is it really a trilogy?

It is a thematic trilogy but has no overlapping between characters and thus could be watched in any order.

Looking to fill in some of the gaps in my Gary Oldman filmography tonight; planning on going with State of Grace, Dracula, and Sid & Nancy. Any other recommendations? Keep in mind I have already seen JFK, True Romance, Leon, The Fifth Element, Air Force One, Lost in Space, The Contender, Potter, Batman and Tinker Tailor.
