Zen: Vendetta [BBC TV]
BBC's new feature length mini-series. Starring Rufus Sewell as detective Aurielo Zen and Caterina Murino as his assistant. First things first. It's set in Rome, the majority of the characters are Italian (and Italian speakers), however all the dialogue is in English and some done in regional accents. This was both confusing and annoying. At first I thought they were English detectives working in Rome as some undercover plot. Then we come to the plot, 'dumb as nuts', I would described it. The finale involves a woman, who I shall describe as feral, who earlier in the story was barely capable of using a cigarette lighter, turns out to be a crack shot with a gun, saving Zen in the process.
The saving grace of this programme is the setting, Rome looks wonderful both from aerial and street level scenes.
Will I be watching the next episode...probably just for Rome and Caterina Murino, both wonderful sights, ahem.
