At The Wheeler Centre to listen to people talk about David Foster Wallace. Yay!
This was pretty great. Six speakers read various excerpts from Wallace's work. Two from The Pale King
, one from Consider the Lobster
, one from Brief Interviews with Hideous Men
, one from Oblivion
and the last read 'This is Water'.
Nam Le, who read from Good Old Neon
, from Oblivion
(which I haven't read) just seemed to choose the most magic passages, and had such a beautiful reading voice.
I want to get a tattoo that is simply 'w/r/t'. I think there would be many things worse than being reminded of David Foster Wallace every day.
