Packing for my flight to LA in the morning! MAXFUNCON! See you there, jb!

Have lots of fun, tiny and bizz :). Am so envious.

Tiny, are you going to all those podcast recordings like jbizz as well?

Yeah! Those will be group things. I'm stoked. Last year was one of the best experiences of my life. I really recommend it.

Actually, only about 2 hours of the whole 3 days will be for panel-y type small group stuff. The rest of the time is everybody all together. Since there's less than 200 people, it works out well.

Sounds so good, seriously. I expect a full report!

Hurting.

I went mountain biking for the first time today with a new group I joined. I don't think I quite understood their scale (or that it was going to be mountain biking rather than groomed trail biking) because I started off with something rated 3 for technical (out of 5). As it happens 3 is the highest they go on their rides, there are two other 3s. I skipped one short sequence called the "stairs" that had like four foot drops but otherwise I made it through unscathed. I'm not sure I really want anything that intense again though. It is kind of insane and I felt like I was going to die at least twice.

Heh, reminds me of the incident I had today. I hit a nasty pothole going about 35km/h and it jarred my hands free of the bars and one foot off the pedal. Nearly went down, had the front wheel wobble going, but somehow managed to regain control. Had there been a parked car to my right at that particular moment I would've scratched his side up something awful. No busted spokes or anything thankfully.

Yikes, I know someone who was going about that speed or maybe a bit more down a hill and hit a pothole or something that broke his front tire and launched him...I don't think he broke anything (other than his helmet) but got beat up pretty well.

Course tonight one person faceplanted going down the "stairs." Thankfully just a few abrasions and she finished the ride. Scary stuff.

Moving

Completely moved back in. Wasn't too bad. My roommates helped. One of them is making dinner right now, while the other is going to see 'The Tree of Life' with me tonight. I could get used to these people who call themselves "Mom" and "Dad".

Feeling super nervous about having to make a research presentation tomorrow. I wasn't scheduled to present but my co-author just emailed to say she can't make it because she's not feeling well.
She didn't even send me slides so am starting from scratch :-\. Butterflies in my stomach.
