Too much listing, not enough ranking!

(Also, too many kanji!)

But it's such a cool-sounding word!

100 Best British Films by Time Out London

Some big names contributed as voters like Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Terence F*ckin' Davies, Wes Anderson, Cuaron, Gondry, Sally Hawkins, and Olivia Williams among others including prominent critics especially from the UK.  You can view each voter's list, and many write up their criteria.

The Start the Countdown tab includes capsule reviews for each film.  The Full List tab doesn't have capsules, but as you'll find out, clicking the movie title or picture will bring you to the Countdown list version anyway.

My only complaint is that The Long Day Closes is criminally ranked low!

Since The Bill Douglas Trilogy made it, I would've loved to see a film or two from The Terence Davies Trilogy on the list as well especially since Derek Jarman was a fan of the trilogy and wrote an appreciative article of it titled A Different Kind of British Cinema.

Kind of a weak area for me, only 63/100.  There are several titles there already on my want-to-see list, however (the Bill Douglas stuff, Secret & Lies, Long Good Friday, Fish Tank).

Kind of shocked to see Nil by Mouth at #21. Can anyone here second that recommendation?

Biggest omissions (according to my Top 100): Children of Men, Truly, Madly, Deeply, and Vertical Features Remake. I'm also disappointed the British Documentary Movement wasn't more strongly represented.

Nil By Mouth is fantastic, pix. Makes Kes seem like Singin' in the Rain, or something like that.

Really poor for me: 53 seen!  :-[
