Ha, I love it. This combo list would get anybody a proper education in horror. You should link to it at the start of the next Shocktober.

Have you not seen This Night I’ll Possess Your Corpse? We'll have to redo the 1957 Retrospots. edit: Oh, that's 1967 we're talking about. There's a typo in the table.

I fall strongly out of sync with you in the 80s. Give me The Thing over Creepshow, A Nightmare on Elm Street over Gremlins, The Fly over Aliens, and most anything over The Serpent and the Rainbow.

Thanks. Fixed it. That title has been on my Horror Watchlist for years, but it doesn't interest me beyond its reputation. Spider Baby is a weak choice, but I've only seen 3 Horror films from 1967. The other two are a Gamera film and The Fearless Vampire Killers.

Actually, the Russian ghost story Viy is also 1967 - don't know why that didn't come up - so Viy would be my pick.

I've seen 5 Horror films from 1957. Night of the Demon is the clear winner, though I also like Enemy From Space.

1988 should have been Dead Ringers in that video. They Live is Fantasy Satire directed by horror filmmaker. It belongs here less than Pan's Labyrinth, which they were wise to exclude.
1988 also has Childs Play, Elm Street 4 and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

The three-year range of 2004-2006 only accounts for 12 of the 102 films (12%). The fallow years before the harvest of 2007.

100. Carlos (Olivier Assayas, 2010)
51. Inception (Christopher Nolan, 2010)
46. Certified Copy (Abbas Kiarostami, 2010)
37. Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (Apichatpong Weerasethakul, 2010)
27. The Social Network (David Fincher, 2010)

2010 still strikes me as a down year, too — though I still need to see Carlos and Certified Copy.

Directors with three films on the list:

Wes Anderson
Paul Thomas Anderson
Michael Haneke
Apichatpong Weerasethakul
Christopher Nolan
Joel and Ethan Coen

Surprised to see only one Hou film.

Certified Copy is an  film.

Certified Copy is one of the main reasons this thread exists, along with Black Swan, I'm Not There, Never Let Me Go, and Bright Star.

... (I can't believe Another Year never won a Filmspot. It certainly FEELS like a Filmspot winner.)
