Triangle (Christopher Smith, 2010)
« on: January 31, 2011, 01:02:02 PM »
I recently heard about this direct-to-DVD horror film through the Slashfilmcast's end of 2010 podcast. Has anyone else seen the film? Although I wouldn't consider it in my top-10 for the year (as Adam Quigly and Dave Chen did), it was a pretty interesting, loopy horror film that will probably grant and reward multiple viewings, while it's not too complicated for casual viewers.

What were other's thoughts on the film?

I saw this a while back, it was pretty fun. I agree totally with what you said about it.  I had seen Timecrimes (or Cronoscrimos, I think) like maybe a month before and it had such a similar plot mechanic that Triangle sort of felt like a more accessible rip-off to me.  I don't think that it actually was a ripoff, that was just sort of the vague feeling I had while watching.  And I also wondered if someone saw Triangle first and Timecrimes a month later, if they would feel the same way in reverse.

Ha, I saw Triangle first and then Timecrimes - liked Triangle much more. :)

They're pretty similar in terms of quality for me. It's way more fun to say Cronocrimenes, though.

You do have a point.

Saw this movie at a horror-marathon about two years ago, and it was the surprise of the night for me. Perhaps the story seemed more intelligent at the time because I had watched two slashers before it, but I really liked the way the timeloop was used.

I saw this a few years ago. A thrilling, head-scrambling puzzle box of a B-movie. The ending was surprisingly poignant, and Melissa George gives a good performance. Very underrated.

I'll add to the praise for Triangle. I've been surprised by how much I thought about it after seeing it a few years ago. It definitely was refreshing since I expected more of a straight-up horror film.  I like the ambiguity of it as the mystery just keeps getting more complex.

I picked up the BR cheap on Amazon a few months ago and have watched it several times now. It's truly a smart way to handle this type of film, and by that I don't mean the horror aspect, with an outstanding and as already stated poignant ending.
