It's my favorite Morricone score, I think.

Jeez, this must be what Bondo feels like all the time.

I know I'm in the minority, and my tastes have changed considerably since that old review so I won't try to defend it.

Nah, you actually watched the whole movie before decided you didn't like it.  ;)

In defense of the minority, I know plenty of people who are ready to climb the walls when they realize how deliberate the pace is in Once Upon a Time... It is way slower than most movies, which is part of its style but also something that some people can't get around.

Yea, I have friends who can't stand Leone because feel like the films are way too slow. They aren't completely wrong.  ;D

"Slow" in and of itself isn't a problem for me.  Tsai and Tarr are two of my favorite directors.  It depends on the context.

Well, I don't know much about context, but slow isn't in itself a bad thing. What matters is if what is happening on screen grabs your attention and engages you. Then it is slow, but it doesn't make a difference. I suppose if you are watching Once Upon a Time in the West and you aren't engaged by the story then the slowness will be a problem.

I on the other hand think slow is a problem. There was a top 5 slow films thread and I couldn't find much to think about posting that is truly slow that I like.

I don't see how "slow" can be a problem any more than "funny" or "purple" can be a problem. If a slow, funny, purple movie is really good at being slow, funny, and purple, I will probably like it.
