I was watching this, and at one point the narrator references the English "resistance to introspection". Do you guys think that is an accurate characterization on the whole?

Yeah. Talking about your problems is interpreted as weakness. If you say nothing about how you feel it's taken as meaning you are OK. Which is of course complete bollocks. (Personal experience. I'm not a flipping spokesman for a whole country- let's not unwrap that crap)
