Every part of the film making in TSKILI is excellent. i would say it as good as All About My Mother & Talk To Her which means it has to be in my top 100 now.

Other films might do certain things very well (like Fassbender's acting in Shame). TSILI is the complete package, a proper movie.

Hm. OK, this is my first filmspot round. Let me ask a question:
I really loved This is Not a Film and would love to nominate it for Best Documentary from 2011. But very few have watched it yet. I think it's coming on DVD later this year. Would it be smarter of me to NOT nominate it for 2011 and wait until 2012 to give it a proper chance?

If no one else has seen it then it wont make the final ballot so it can still get nominated next year. You can have it on your list.

There's risk either way. If you think it has any chances of getting nominated this year, it might be better to do so. Films with carryover eligibility don't have the best track record. Some Filmspot voters just can't tear themselves away from traditional Oscar-eligibility rules, and some films just get forgotten over the course of a year.

On the other hand, if it's not going to get nominated this year (which is hard to predict), then maybe that slot on your ballot is better served supporting another film.

From my limited sense of things (and I don't really have the pulse of the forum this year), there don't seem to be too many 2011 docs that have that much buzz here (The Interrupters, Senna, Bill Cunningham New York, and maybe The Arbor), and This Is Not a Film seems like it might have enough support to get nominated already.

I imagine the five nominees will be Marwencol, Interrupters, Arbor, Senna, and Bill Cunningham get nominated. But only about three or four of those seem like a lock to me, if that. Plus I have a spotty record with that category.

Is the Louis C.K. thing a documentary? Also, I wish that South Park Making Of doc was on DVD or something.

Louis C.K. is eligible for the category, yeah. And I agree about One Week to Air or whatever it's called.

Alright, I'll watch the CK thing before submitting my ballot. I'll still post it here though, I reckon, since that seems fine. It's nearly complete!
