spoko, I dictate that you watch Notorious.

Sam claims I have no shame. What am I to do?
Watch Paris, Texas.  8)

My List:

Intolerance
The Red Shoes
Beauty and the Beast (1946)
Predator
Dances With Wolves
The Bride of Frankenstein
The Sweet Smell of Success
True Romance
Titanic
West Side Story

My list is a mix of icheckmovies, popular titles I needed to see and box-office hits. A lot of my glaring gaps I'm trying to fill in with marathons, so I'm excluding films from those marathons as I'll get to them soon anyway.

I nominate The Sweet Smell of Success for you Sam TCS

My List

Seven Samurai (1954)
Yojimbo (1961)
Touch of Evil (1958)
Ikiru (1952)
(1963)
The 400 Blows (1959)
La Strada (1954)
Jules & Jim (1962)
Rififi (1955)
Le Cercle Rouge (1970)

The list was taken from imdb of movies I haven't seen. Err I should mention that 400 Blows and Jules & Jim are playing at my favourite cinema this month, if that helps.

Monty, I haven't seen either 400 Blows or Jules & Jim either, so I'm afraid I can't make this easy for you! ;)

I'm torn between the first four on your list. As you're clearly behind on your Kurosawa, I nominate Yojimbo.

Here's my list from iCheckMovies. I was impressed that the top ten was an excellent selection of stuff I've been avoiding in some cases:

Annie Hall - Woody Allen? Never saw the point of his films, but I probably haven't been fair
Singin' in the Rain - really, I just don't like musicals. If this one is picked, please explain why a non-musical fan would find anything to appreciate!
The Graduate - I've seen enough of it, but never watched it properly.
Sunset Blvd. - no excuse
City Lights - I need to catch up on my Chaplins. This would be an easy watch.
- something always stopped me...
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans - never got round to it
The Gold Rush - same as City Lights
The Best Years of Our Lives - only recently became aware of its possibly brilliance
Paths of Glory - no excuse what so ever!

Najemikon, you should watch Singing In the Rain because it's a good movie who knows you might like it.

Here's my list:

Robin Hood (Disney)
Pocahontas
The Girl Who Leapt through Time
The Secret of NIMH
Hachi: A Dogs Tale
Wendy and Lucy
Second Hand Lions
Megamind
Son of Ranbow
Kung Fu Hustle

Well, I was hoping for a bit more than that, but I suppose it serves me right!

sdedalus, do you have a review of Singin' in the Rain to link here for Najemikon? I have three words of advise; suspension of disbelief.  Ideathy is right, you might find somethings in it to like. Have fun!

IDEATHY, I dictate Robin Hood (Disney). I'm wary but tempted of recommending you Kung Fu Hustle, but it is very, very violent.

My Shame List:
8 1/2
Aguirre: The Wrath of God
Apocalypse Now
Goodfellas
Jules & Jim
L'Avventura
Nashville
Requiem for a Dream
The Rules of the Game
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans

I was assuming her list was oldkid approved...otherwise I would have thought the same.

The Secret of NIMH is rather violent and scary too, but I watched it as a kid a lot, at a younger age than Ideathy.  I never really felt the impact of the violence as much until I saw it again when I was older, however, I think NIMH is a great cartoon.
