I've only seen The Rock and it's great, so as far as I know he's great director.

This seems like a reasonable bit of logic.

He's underrated.

You either forgot to add ironic quotes or all your credibility went out the window in just 2 words.

He really should work for the Scotts Company, because his formulas make for great fertilizer.

I'm with sdedalus. Bay isn't so much underrated as overbashed. The Transformers films ain't no good but most of his others are entertaining and have really good action. The Rock is an awesome movie.

The Island

The Rock
Armageddon
Bad Boys

Pearl Harbor

I think the bashing is proportional to the amount of money his films rake in.

You have got to be kidding me. Oh wait. I forgot that THE DARK KNIGHT and the HARRY POTTER + LORD OF THE RINGS series have been universally panned by critics and audiences alike! MY BAD.

No, it's because he uses incredibly obvious ways of drawing in a audience (explosions, 80s nostalgia, hot slutty women, Military fetishizing) and uses this as substitution for interesting storytelling.
