1. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (3.5)
2. The Incredibles (3.5)
3. The Iron Giant (3.5)
4. Ratatouille (3.5)

How close are these four to each other in your mind ?

Fairly close I would say. The sheer entertainment value of M:I puts it at one, and I should revisit Ratatouille and The Iron Giant.

Why have Lasseter and Stanton directed so many of Pixar's movies and Bird so few? What was he doing during the eight years that separate Ratatouille and Tomorrowland? I mean, I give him two years to make MIGP but it feels like he's being criminally underused.

Bird has made 5 features from 2004 to 2018
Stanton has made 4 features from 2003 to 2016
Pete Docter has made 3 features from 2001 to 2015

Ratatouille was a lucky break for us because he took over someone else's film in the final 18 months.

I might be overrating The Incredibles. Should be getting to the sequel next week.

The Incredibles is a near perfect film, my favorite Pixar film and his best, but the endings of Iron Giant and Ratatouille are among the most beautiful in all cinema!
