I think 1SO and I have talked about this before but I've definitely soured on Children of Men as time has passed. The long takes are pretty meaningless outside of "Hey, look at what we can do." Gravity has that to an extent, but the long take there, especially at the beginning, works to totally sell the space thing like no other movie really has before.

What I really liked about Children of Men is how crucial the long takes were to the intensity and emotion of its critical scenes.
