Morgan Freeman gives a great, great, performance... seeing this and Shawshank Redemption recently make me mourn for his career : he's become this gravitas machine who doesn't really play characters anymore... he's never bad, but seeing him be so good here really make turns such as his Dark Knight trilogy role seem amateurish.

Now I'm mourning for his career too... though it's nice to see him have fun in the DK trilogy. How about Robin Hood Prince of Thieves! Azeem the Great One! He's such a badass in that movie. :)

The Killer (2023)

Further cements my notion that The Smiths fanatics are psychopaths.

As for the actual film, I couldn't for the life of me find something to grip onto here. Sure it's as well crafted as any Fincher but it's so sparse and cold in a way I found really off-putting. There's almost a lack of personality here. I could see why this might work much better as a graphic novel where the narration and images are juxtaposed, but there's a dry sincerity and moroseness to some truly silly ideas that can never get past the fact that at its core it's a frivolous revenge flick. I'd rather have had more pulp or a more shall we say European flair.
